General Summary:
The Carrier Access Business Analyst will assist in compilation of data and performing analysis related to carrier access cost and order flow; pre-sale quoting; and vendor pricing and performance. She/he will help to identify, track and implement savings initiatives for cost reduction, optimization and efficiencies. She/he will require the ability to both work independently on projects and coordinate and collaborate cross-departmentally. This position will support both the Business Analytics Group and the Carrier Relations Group within Cogent. This position reports to the Director of Carrier Relations.
Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis:
- Compile and analyze numerous monthly reports and schedules
- Evaluate, identify and propose changes:
- Carrier Access optimization and cost reduction
- Pre-sale quoting process and performance
- Vendor pricing and vendor operational performance
- Prepare analyses for management
- Maintain schedules for savings analysis for each of the identified programs
- Proactively evaluate the business for additional projects and programs potential
- Work cross-departmentally
- Review and assimilate legal agreements
- Produce Ad-hoc reporting for management
- Correspond with Carrier Access Vendors
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint required
- Strong Excel skill set (Compare multiple Excel workbooks using a variety of Excel formulas)
- High attention to detail and focused on delivering accurate results
- Well organized, results-oriented, ability to forecast and meet deadlines
- Telecommunications Carrier industry familiarity/experience a plus
- Basic knowledge of the Internet and data network design a plus
